Subject:Meow?
Posted by:angelandpeppy.
Time:3:58 pm.
I'm Angel, and I am an indoor cat. It's just me now, since my sister Peppy is in heaven with the other cat that used to live with our Mommy, and her parents. It's my job to do all the talking and playing and getting lovins and treats for the both of us.

It's been forever since I've been around the journal site, but I have returned!

I wouldn't mind meeting new kitties or other animals who are nice and have journals, once again.

Subject: Prostate Herbs - A Natural Prostate Cure
Posted by:xrono2009.
Time:3:07 am.

From the age of around 45 years, a majority of men begin to experience changes in their urination patterns. In varying degrees, the experience can be a subtle change or can become a very distressing painful and in some cases embarrassing experience. This is the age at which the prostate gland begins to change and may swell around the urethra and constrict the flow of urine. This may mean an increase in the urge to urinate more frequently as the restriction inhibits emptying of the bladder. In extreme cases the restriction may be extreme and result in painful slow elimination. Kidney problems may follow.

Most pharmaceutical products have limited if any effect and so, more and more men are turning to herbal alternatives with some promising results. Most recent prostate studies show that herbal remedies are a more effective treatment method than drugs.

The most common herbs used successfully are;
1. Saw Palmetto,
2. Stinging Nettle,
3. Rye Pollen,
4. Pygeum, and
5. Lycopene.

Lycopene is one of the more promising recommended substances. It is a component of tomato and is only present in cooked tomato products. European diets where tomatoes are widely used have been associated with low incidence of prostate enlargement.

Erectile dysfunctions and painful ejaculations are associated with drug based treatments and so men are naturally very wary of this. Herbs on the other hand have few if any harmful effects. Herbs are also more affordable.

Combine Herbs For More Effective Treatment

Saw Palmetto Berry, stinging nettle and Pygeum Africanum, are often used in combination to produce a more potent and effective treatment for prostate problems.

The Saw Palmetto berry contains both serona repens and serrulata. Together these make a powerful combination, making it no surprise that this berry has been in use for hundreds of years. It is also an aphrodisiac which increases the production of sperm and increases sexual prowess.

On the other hand Stinging nettle has been recorded as an effective treatment of arthritis but also prostate disease.
The African Plum or Pygeum is another popular herb used to treat the prostate.

Whilst all these are effective in the treatment of prostate conditions, it is imperative to visit your doctor at least six monthly to check for changes in the size of the prostate. It is a case of early intervention as well as prevention may win the day.

Subject: macaroni recipes.
Posted by:xrono2009.
Time:5:07 am.

macaroni recipes.

Home-made macaroni.
------------------

To four cupfuls of flour, add one egg well beaten, and enough water to make a dough that can be rolled. Roll thin on a breadboard and cut into strips. Dry in the sun. The best arrangement for this purpose is a wooden frame to which a square of cheese-cloth has been tightly tacked, upon which the macaroni may be laid in such a way as not to touch, and afterwards covered with a cheese-cloth to keep off the dust during the drying.

Boiled macaroni.
---------------

Put a larg cup of macaroni into boiling water and cook until tender. When done, drained thoroughly, then add a pint of milk, part cream if it can be afforded, a little salt and one well-beaten egg; stir over the fire until it thickens, and serve hot.

Macaroni with cream sauce.
-------------------------

Cook the macaroni as directed in the proceeding, and serve with a cream sauce prepared by heating a scant pint of rich milk to boiling, in a double boiler. When boiling, add a heaping tablespoonful of flour, rubbed smoothed in a little milk and one fourth teaspoonful of salt. If desired, the sauce may be flavored by steeping in the milk before thickening for ten or fifteen minutes, a slice of onion or a few bits of celery, and then removing with a fork.

Macaroni with tomato sauce.
--------------------------

Drop a cup of macaroni into boiling milk and water, equal parts. Let it boil for an hour, or until perfectly tender. In the meantime prepare the sauce by rubbing a pint of stewed or canned tomatoes through a colander to remove all seeds and fragments. Heat to boiling, thicken with a little flour; a tablespoonful to the pint will be about the requisite proportion. Add salt and if desired, a half cup of very thin sweet cream. Dish the macaroni into individual dishes, and serve with a small quantity of the sauce poured over each dish.

Macaroni baked with granola.
---------------------------

Cook a large cup of macaroni until tender in boiling milk and water. When done, drain and put a layer of the macaroni in the bottom of a pudding dish, and sprinkle over it a scant teaspoonful of granola. Add a second and third layer and sprinkle each with granola; then turn over the whole a custard sauce prepared by mixing together a pint of milk, the well beaten yolks of two eggs or one whole egg, and one-fourth of a teaspoonful of salt. Care should be taken to arrange the macaroni in layers loosely, so that the sauce will readily permeate the whole. Bake for a few minutes only, until the custard has well set, and serve.

Eggs and macaroni.
-----------------

Cook a cup of macaroni in boiling water. While the macaroni is cooking, boil the yolks of four eggs until mealy. The whole egg may be used if caught so the yolks are mealy in the whites simply jellied, not hardened. When the macaroni is done, drain and put a layer of it arranged loosely in the bottom of a pudding dish. Slice the cooked egg yolks and spread a layer of them over the macaroni. Fill the dish with alternate layers of macaroni and egg, taking care to have the top layer of macaroni. Pour over the whole a cream sauce prepared as follows: Heat one and three fourths cup of rich milk to boiling, add one fourth teaspoonful of salt and one heaping spoonful of flour rubbed smooth in a little cold milk. Cook until thickened, then turn over the macaroni. Sprinkle the top with grated bread crumbs, and brown in a hot oven for eight or ten minutes. Serve hot.

Subject: Barbecue Basics
Posted by:xrono2009.
Time:5:58 pm.

Since the Stone Age, man has been perfecting the art of cooking using a direct flame. If you were to ask someone about the history of barbecue, you would most likely get a response similar to the statement above. However that would not be quite right as there is a fundamental difference between
simply cooking with a flame and having a barbecue. If you don't add some sauce, to the direct flamemethod, you are grilling, not having a barbecue. To truly barbecue is to baste and slow cook meat 5 or 6 hours at a low temperature(around 200 degrees), over wood or charcoal.

Today when you think of going to a barbecue, you may conjure up the idea of a hamburger or steak, so big and juicy, it melts in your mouth. Alternatively, perhaps a hot dog grilled to perfection with all the toppings. The phrase barbecue has evolved to mean either the meat served or the social event where the meat served has been specially prepared to represent a barbecue taste. Regardless of which area of the US you choose as your favorite for barbecue, the
barbecue is an American Tradition, handed down from generation to generation. There's no chance the barbecue party will lose it's appeal anytime soon.

While there's no question that the barbecue is an American delicacy, there are many differenttheories as to where its origins lie. The state of Texas, Virginia, the Carolinas, or Georgia, each area has it's own definition and history of barbecue. It may well be that each area has it's own rightful claim to the barbecue history as each uses different methods and sauces to make their own unique barbecue.

And there would be no BBQ without a Texas barbecue sauce, which is thick and sweet with a rich tomato flavour. Texas sauce also uses a dry-rub mixture of seasonings which is applied to the beef and then the meat is hung over the BBQ to slow cook.

The southeast barbecue sauce, is a thinner sauce, with more of a vinegary taste. Their meat of choice is likely to be pork. The method used here is to`use a pit or enclosure to concentrate the cooking heat and smoke around the meat whilst it is being prepared.

Almost every family has their own unique taste and method used to get just the right barbecue. At your next barbecue, if you want to rev up the conversation between barbecue connoisseurs, just casually ask, Do you know the difference between barbecue and grilling? Or, where did the barbecue originate? Of course, it may depend upon the
number of drinks you have served as to the answers you get. But the responses are sure to be varied and interesting.

Anyone wanting to help animals or wanting a pet....

Taken from a site:

About 130 dogs rescued from a puppy mill in Virginia will be up for adoption Friday at the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington NY, an official with the group said.

More than 980 dogs were rescued from a puppy mill in Carroll County, Va., last week by about 25 animal rescue organizations, said Devera Lynn, North Shore's vice president of communications. The league is taking in 132 dogs -- the most of any organization.

"You can tell they've never had any human contact before," Lynn said at the shelter Saturday amid a symphony of barks and howls. "But you can see they've been craving it."

Subject:Animal Abuse in Ukraine
Posted by:help_animal.
Time:11:06 pm.
www.MatesMaster.com friends and romance network, the site which is constantly involved in Animal Welfare programs, joins forces with Kiev City Society for the Protection of Animals in protest to the inhumane treatment of animals, abuse and cruelty in Ukraine.

About 156,000 stray cats and dogs are annually hurt, abused and killed in Ukrainian citiesand towns. When caught by the dog catchers, some stray animals are used forpainful experiments.
Stray dogs are often bludgeoned or put to death by electricity or caught using an inhumane poison and sometimes die slow, painful deaths. Instead of putting an animal to sleep with the use of euthanasia (i.e. the act of killing an animal painlessly), the animal service uses dithylinum (suxamethonium chloride), a poison which paralyzes the animal and causes it to die of suffocation in a few hours of agony. There is ample evidence that the poor creatures are still conscious and feel all the pain before they die. It is often the case that animals are beaten with legs and metal sticks, whereupon they are buried or burned alive.

Lots of people witnessed animals being tortured and murdered - little kittens tied up in plastic bags and thrown in the river, people intentionally run stray pets over with their cars, newly born puppies dumped on vacant land without their mother and left them to die.
Stories are endless and make hearts of every Human Being bleed.

Authorities of small Ukrainian communities for ever used and are still using different kind of poison - rat poison and recently they "discovered" a new method of killing stray animals - Isoniazidum (Tubazidum) anti-tuberculosis drug causing cheap, but very slow and painful death

Subject:long time, no update
Posted by:trafs.
Time:1:11 pm.
It's been awhile since we updated (since Christmas!), so we thought we'd stop in, say hi, and let everyone know how we're doing!

Last week, Mommy gave us all our monthly flea treatment. She says better safe than sorry, and we get it every month, whether we're itchy or not. She also gave us all a pill that's supposed to be a dewormer thingmabobber. She says she wants us to be healthy, we think she likes sticking pills down our throats. Yuck!

Last night Mommy came home and said she was spending some QT with us. She got on the couch and Abra and Ferris got up there with her. Toby stayed with Gammy on the other end. Spunky never knows what to do, but eventually he snuggled up with Mommy, too. We watched a movie and had some pizza and snuggled until Mommy said she didn't feel well and went behind the door again.

Today Ferris has been hogging all of her attention. She said she's going to clean our litter boxes and give us a treat in a minute...right after she puts up pictures of us being ridiculously cute.Collapse )

(BRUNO & SHARON)

March 12 2007

It's been a sad 2 weeks. Bruno suddenly became sick and lost alot of weight. When I noticed the sudden change I made sure he went to the vet. My step-dad took him and I found out he had a tumor. It was under his cheek, it grew so fast the medication couldn't even work. It just made me so sad because it's one of my pets and it's hard to let anything go. Whether it's a dog or a hamster it still pulls your heart strings. I loved cuddling with Bruno and he loved when I rubbed the back of his ears. His favourite thing to do was running in his wheel in his cage, and eating crackers. He will be missed.

Hi my name is Molly I'm new here. I was saved as a pup by my mom. She has been really good to me. She spoils me, she always buys me basketball when I pop mine, she gets me canned dog food which is soooooo good, and sometimes she gets me shirts.

But I hate it when she's at school cause I love it when we got walking. She always goes different ways so it is not so boring. Like the other day we went walking on Main St. It was fun cause I got to sniff all the bushes. Well I have to get goin so bye.
